V Subbiah

V Subbiah
He was born on 7th February 1911. He was an Indian communist politician from Puducherry (formally Pondicherry) and was the secretary of the Communist Party of French India. He is regarded as the founder of the trade union movement in the union territory. In 1986 Government of India listed him one of the 97 original thinking freedom fighters all over India. He is regarded by the people of Puducherry as “Leader of People”. He died on 12th October 1993.

 India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp on 7th February 2011 having a denomination of Rs.5 and a First Day Cover.
