100 Years of Airmail  (Set of 4 stamps in block of four)

Airmail is mail that is transported by aircraft. The world's first airmail service took off from the right river bank of Yamuna at  Allahabad, crossing over to left bank and dropped  to  Naini Railway Station on February 18, 1911, in Humber Biplane.

The mail bag contains 6500 letters and postcards. French aviator Henry Pequet was the pilot.

100 Years of Airmail First Day Cover

 As a commemoration of the completion of 100 years of Airmail services India Post issued a set of 4 stamps, a miniature sheet and a first day cover. The denomination of each stamp is Rs.5/- and that of Miniature Sheet is Rs.20/-
