As a commemoration of World Philatelic exhibition INDIPEX – 2011 India Post issued a special commemorative postage stamp in the form of Miniature Sheet printed on Kadhi the image of Mahatma Gandhi. It is the first postage stamp printed on Kadhi.

Khadi is Indian handspun and hand-woven cloth. Khadi is not just a cloth but it act as the icon of India’s freedom struggle. The Khadi movement aimed at boycotting foreign goods and promoting Indian goods, thereby improving India's economy. Mahatma Gandhi began promoting the spinning of Kadhi by using ‘Charkha’ or spinning wheel for rural self-employment and self-reliance in 1920 instead of using cloths manufactured in the Britain.

India Post issued this special stamp in the form of Miniature sheet having denomination of Rs.100/- on 12th February 2011. One noted feature of this stamp is only printed 1,00,000 copies and issued in the form of presentation pack worth Rs.250/- ( But a few copies issued without presentation pack for Rs.100/-) . Another notable thing is that the first day cancellation issued only from the New Delhi Philatelic bureau.
