Jagjit Singh (8th February 1941 – 10th October 2011), was an Indian Ghazal singer. 

The ghazal is a poetic form consisting of rhyming rhymes and a renounce, with each line sharing the same meter. A ghazal may be understood as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain.
 
 His unique style of singing and composing music brought out the heart of listener’s to the deepest and innermost feelings. He is considered as the most successful ghazal singer and composer of all time. He was awarded ‘Padma Bhushan’ in 2003 for his remarkable contribution to Indian music. He died on 10th day of October 2011.  


India Post issued a Se-tenant postage stamps having denomination of Rs.5 and Rs.20 and also a First Day Cover to commemorate his uniqueness in the world of Indian music.
