Communication constituted the nervous system of Armies all over the world. The Corps of Signals of the Indian Army has build a well communication network system by using latest technology for strengthening our Army force and to match the best in the world.

The role of it is to provide secure, reliable and responsive strategic, operational and tactical communications and  spearheads the information technology revolution in the Indian Army. On 15th February 2011, the Corps of Signals will complete 100 years of its service to the Armed Forces.

India Post issued a Commemorative stamp having denomination of Rs.5 and a First Day Cover on 04th February 2011 to commemorate its centenary year.

Mary Ward, an English Catholic nun, born on 23rd January 1585 at Old Mulwith, Yorkshire.He who founded the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1609 at St Omer in France, also known as the Loreto Sisters .She was declared "Venerable" by Pope Benedict XVI on 19 December 2009; this is the first of three steps on the path to being declared a saint

 She was the pioneer for the role of women in education. Today, Mary Ward’s teachings and work are being carried on throughout the world. With more than 4000 members branching out on 6 continents, Loreto Institutions are imparting education to more than 70,000 students worldwide. Mary Ward’s vision and way of life was brought to India in 1842. In India, Loreto Sisters care for 1000 of girls across their educational institutions.. They care for the weak, the oppressed and marginalized and provide adult literacy  classes for deprived young women.


To mark the 400 years (1609 – 2009) India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp on 02.02.2011 of Rs.5 on Mary Ward – Loreto Institutions. Also issued a first day cover.

Chaudhary Ranbir Singh

Chaudhary Ranbir Singh

Chaudhary Ranbir Singh was born on 26th November 1914 at Sanghi in Rohtak district of Haryana. He was a visionary, freedom fighter, great patriot and later as a  distinguished parliamentarian and administrator.
First day Cover
He was elected twice to the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. His one among the notable contribution included the role he played in development of Bhakra Nangal Power project as the then Irrigation Minister of joint Punjab. H e died on 1st February 2009.

India Post issued a commemorative postage stamp having a denomination of Rs.5 and also a first day cover.

Krishnadevaraya

Krishnadevaraya is the third ruler of the Tuluva Dynasty. He was one of the greatest statesmen which medieval South India had produced.

His contribution towards the art and architecture of the empire is an important chapter in the history of art. During his period Sanskrit, Kannada, Telugu and Tamil literature, music, dance and drama were patronized equally.

Doot

Doot

Dood is a Gujarat periodical published from Gujarat since January 2011. It was started by a German Jesuit mission superior, Fr.Herman Zurhansen, SJ in Gujarati Language in the name "Ati Pavitra Antakaranno Doot", which was shortened to "Doot" in 2000. it reflected the life and culture of the Christian community of Gujarat and its integration, growth and development over the years.

The main contribution of the magazine is that it has brought many words spoken in Central Gujarat to the main stream and these have found their way into the Gujarati dictionary.
